How to Maintain an Icy Blonde Hair Color
There is nothing worse than paying a ton of money to get your hair colored blonde and then have it turn into brassy straw just 3 weeks later, am I right? We are a family full of blondes (not natural...haha) but we definitely love our hair to be bright, shiny, and icy. We are lucky enough to have a phenomenal hairstylist in the family, Marianne. She spoils us and uses the best coloring products available and since she started coloring our hair for us, we've been converted to her method of using the best of the best. Although it costs more to get your hair colored by someone who uses top-of-the-line products, it is definitely worth it when you see the results. There really is no comparison in the way a good line of products works on colored hair. There's minimal damage, especially when going blonde. It's equally important to use specially-developed products to maintain your hair's health and color.
I've learned a lot over the years about where to spend my money when it comes to hair maintenance. These are my go-to products for keeping a nice, cool blonde tone:
Drybar Blonde Ale Brightening Shampoo
I use Drybar Blonde Ale Brightening Shampoo every other time I wash my hair (which, let's be honest, is only once or twice a week). With such blonde hair, I feel like I need to maintain a barrier of natural oils to keep my hair from breaking. On the times I don't use Dyrbar Blonde Ale, I use Redken All Soft Shampoo.
I use Kevin Murphy Blonde.Angel Conditioner every other time I wash my hair and I alternate so I'm not using both purple shampoo and conditioner on the same washes. This has probably made the biggest difference in keeping my blonde nice and icy. It is a strengthening conditioner as well, so it leaves the hair feeling really hydrated and strong. On the times I don't use Kevin Murphy, I use Redken All Soft Conditioner.
Keeping an icy blonde hairstyle does require some maintenance but in my opinion, it is definitely worth it! I'd love to hear about the products you have found that keep your blonde looking ice cold and feeling healthy. Comment below with any help or suggestions!
